A description of the "Brazilian Haiku" can be found at http://AboutPoetry.com. It seems that Guilherme de Almeida was the first writer who brought the Haiku to Brazil. The Brazilian haiku has a rhyme scheme. That looks like this:
- - - - X - O - - - - O - - - - X
(X rhymes with X and O rhymes with O)
Example:
The young brown bear climbed the tree, to steal the honey as the bee hive chimed
